According to the source We Are Social, 3.3 billion people around the world actively use social media on mobile devices. If you are an eCommerce business and you aren’t utilizing the world of social media marketing, you could be missing out on a huge chunk of that 3.3 billion people out there scrolling.
Social Media expert, and founder of Social Media Marketing agency Media on the Move, Magi Vevere sat down with us to share some of her amazing tips that have helped her and her clients see revenue driven results.
One of the many topics discussed was the topic of Instagram shadow banning. The definition of shadow ban from Hubspot is “the act of hiding or restricting a user’s content without informing the user that it’s happening. ”When shadowban happens, it is typically due to the Instagram user violating community guidelines through actions such as buying likes and followers for their content.
If this is something that your business is currently struggling with, here are some tips to get out of the shadowban.
Utilize Instagram’s new features-
These include things such as Reels, and Guides. When the social app comes out with a new feature and your business is using those features (AKA promoting their new features for them) your account will more likely be boosted by the algorithm.
Keep people on the app-
What do we mean by this? Use carousels for photos, IGTV videos, post in your stories, use Highlights. All of these things keep users engaged with your content for longer than just a single photo does. When you post a single photo, the user likes it and moves on with their day. When you throw in a carousel with helpful, useful information that makes someone want to keep scrolling through it, and even save it to come back to it later, the app will reward you for that.
Staying consistent with your efforts is ultimately key through growing and keeping a following. When you show up, every single day with helpful information, your audience will start to look forward to seeing your content (and hopefully even turn on post notifications to get alerted that you posted!)
Shadow ban on Instagram isn’t forever, and following these tips is a sure way to make sure that you get out of it and start seeing the results you deserve.
