Luminos Labs and Episerver team up to improve capacity and conversion for financial services provider Umpqua Bank
Founded in Oregon in 1953, Umpqua Bank has become a staple in the Pacific Northwest, growing to handle more than $20 billion in assets. But as their reach extended down the Pacific coast and into Nevada and Idaho, the problems of scale became too hard to ignore.
Umpqua Bank came to us because they wanted to provide a better user experience than their outdated digital commerce website was capable of. Changes to their site required coordinating with IT, which led to slow turnaround time. This bottleneck was both inefficient and expensive, and led to a static website that struggled to keep up with the demands of modern business.
We coordinated with Umpqua’s Scrum Team, who created stories, acceptance criteria, and estimations for us to work with. We determined that a full-scale shift to Episerver was the simplest solution. This would decouple website maintenance and IT, allowing for a more responsive website as well as a freeing up IT to focus on other work. It would also introduce:
- Centralized website editing capabilities
- Improve SEO and personalisation tools
- Restructure the back end to integrate with the improved site architecture
The infrastructure shift was completed under budget and resulted in faster turnaround time and reduced maintenance costs. The simplified ability to build and perform QA tests allows for dynamic website maintenance going forward. Centralized content management and communication tools provide the framework to handle the demands of scaling the business. Multi-platform capabilities reduce the need to create redundant webpages for various devices. We also integrated Episerver Find and Google Maps into the platform.
All of this is hosted on the Episerver cloud, keeping costs down now and as the website’s needs grow in the future.
